Sending those wonderful pictures you want only your friends to see them is what most facebook users will be happy to do. Through facebook you can send your pictures not only pictures even music or video files and other files you may want to send.

Pipe is the name of the web application running on facebook platform that enables you to send your files through facebook. Its not a very new feature it has been around for sometime now and people who knew about it has been using it and its fun using it.


Pipe allows the transfer of up to 1GB data and its secure to transfer as the file is not transfered through facebook nor pipe but directly from your computer to your friend's computer. Pipe uses the transfer protocol called RTMFP (Real Time Media Flow Protocol) from Adobe, which is based on UDP. RTMFP has a 128bit AES encryption for the communication channel between the sender and receiver's computers. You can go to www.pipe.com to check it out.

You can also send files to your friends who are offline using the Pipe featuer known as LOCKER, when your friend is offline you can can store up to 100mb of data in the LOCKER where only you and your friend has access to. Your friend can get the file anytime he logs into his account.

How its works, you must be a facebook user to be able to use this app, when you go to the app you can click on friends to see the list of your friends and click on the friend you want to send the file to, then click the Pipe icon you can type in some message if you wish to, after that hit the send button and that is all.
