Sony Xperia Z Ultra Launched

Sony has officially launched the Xperia Z Ultra, the company’s latest smartphones in the Xperia series. Sony unveiled the Z Ultra last month and it went on sale in India online last week. The Xperia Z Ultra has a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with with X-Reality engine, powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). It has a 8-megapixel rear camera with Sony Exmor RS sensor, 1080p video recording and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

It has IP55 / IP58 rating for dust and water resistance. It has pen input that recognizes input from a pen or pencil since it has handwriting recognition software . It is the world’s slimmest Full HD 1080p smartphone – at just 6.5 mm thick.

It comes bundled with Sony media apps such as Sony Music music and the Sony LIV video streaming app. Sony has partnered with Gameloft to offer Asphalt 7 game that comes per-installed in the device.

Videocon has launched a new budget smartphone in the Indian market, the Videocon A24 for Rs. 4,699.

The Videocon A24 has Android 4.2.2 (Jelly Bean) experience out-of-the-box. The smooth and sleek Android Jelly Bean ecosystem brings in huge improvements from the previous versions and enables the users to experience top notch Android experience on their smart device.

New improvements in the Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 experience include improved quick settings, access to new widgets on the lock screen, improved home button functioning, battery life on notification bar and much more.

The device brings together innovative features like Dual SIM, 1.2 GHz processor, 1450 mAh battery, preloaded apps and others.

The device features a 4-inch WVGA display with a resolution of 480x800 pixels. It is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor coupled with 256MB of RAM. It packs a 1450mAh battery that the company claims, delivers up to 4 hours of talktime. The device also includes 512MB internal storage that can be expanded up to 32GB with the help of a microSD card.

The company has preloaded some apps on the Videocon A24 including V Store, TOI, Hungama, Fun Zone, Skype, Facebook and WhatsApp. Other features include FM Radio with recording, and G Sensor. The handset will be available in two colour variants - White Chrome and Black.

Micromax has announced the launch of its first 3D phone, Micromax A115 Canvas 3D, the fourth member of its flagship Canvas series. The latest offering from Micromax offers a glasses-free option to view 3D content. This is in line with our earlier report about phone's impending.

The most eye-catching fetaure of the device is that it has been priced at Rs. 9,999 and does not require 3D glasses to view the content.

The company press release describes the latest offering as 'NO requirement of 3D Glasses' to view its content in 3D, thereby giving the user a hassle free rich life like experience.

According to the company, the technology required to convert standard images into 3D format has been embedded into this smartphone.

The new Micromax A115 Canvas come with a 5.0-inch display with 480x800 resolution and full touch screen and runs on Android 4.1.2 (Jelly Bean).

This dual-sim smartphone is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor and supports 32GB memory expandable memory.

For imaging, the phone has a 5MP camera on the back, whereas a VGA unit is placed in the front.

The phone comes with a basic 5MP camera on the back and a VGA quality camera for video calling. However, unlike its competitors like the HTC EVO 3D and LG Optimus 3D, the new Canvas 3D does not click 3D images. The 3D experience is, unfortunately, restricted only to the display and viewing 3D content without glasses.

However, according to the company, the smartphone has inbuilt features to convert regular images into the 3D format.

For connectivity, the new Canvas 3D has a features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and microUSB. The 2,000mAh battery of this smartphone offers talk time of up to 4.5 hours.

The manufacturer has also included access to Micromax 3D Space where the user can access all 3D videos and games.

The new 3D smartphone will be available in the market from the first week of May, with the price tag of Rs. 9,000, according to the company's website.

Currently, the only other smartphone with a 3D screen in India is LG Optimus 3D, priced at Rs. 26,400.

Sony Xperia C launching in aug 2013

Sony Xperia C is the first phone to have MediaTek chip inside. It uses the MediaTek MT6589 SoC that is found in all low-cost quad core phones. The chip couples quad core 1.2 GHz Cortex A7 processor, PowerVR SGX GPU clocked at 286 MHz. It has 1 GB RAM, 4 GB ROM. Sony should be readying it to compete with budget phones. Price is still a surprise but i think Sony would love to sell it in less than Rs 16,000 so that it can challenge Micromax, Karbonn, Xolo and emerging China brands in Indian soil.

Out of the box Sony Xperia C runs Android 4.2.2 JellyBean. The UI is inspired from previous Xperia series phones. The design is quite catchy; it looks more like the flagship Sony Xperia Z. It’s measured to have a thickness of 8.9 mm and weights approx 153 gm.

Sony quite sensibly increased the size of the battery. It packs 2390 mAh Li-Ion battery that ensures 14 hrs talk time, 111 hrs music play. Overall, battery performance for a 5 inch phablet seems quite good.

In connectivity front Sony Xperia C has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct and micro USB. For data network connectivity it has HSPA+ speed up to 42 Mbps and HSUPA up to 11.5 Mbps. In GSM network up to 237 Kbps EDGE speed is also achievable in this phone.

Cheap I phone Soon to hit the market

In the past few weeks the Internet has been abuzz with leaks relating to Apple’s rumored cheaper iPhone, though much of them have been restricted to the specs and photos of the multi-colored plastic back panel. Now, GSMArena has spotted a YouTube video that takes a look at this plastic back panel in detail.

Uploaded by DetroitBORG, the nearly six and half minute video takes an in-depth look at the plastic back panel and its innards. In terms of design, the back panel looks a mix of iPhone 3GS and the 5th generation iPod Touch. The quality of the plastic is quite good though it is nowhere close to the premium-ness of the iPhone 5, but then that is to be expected.

The chrome outline on the camera, flash and the earphone jack are missing and instead of the circular volume buttons, the low cost iPhone will feature pill-shaped buttons in the same color as the back. The placement of the buttons, SIM card tray, speaker grille and the lightning port remain much the same. The video uploader reiterates that the back panels will be available in multiple color variants.

The video doesn’t reveal anything new in terms of specifications and much of what we know remains the same. A recent report claimed that the device will be offered in two variants codenamed ‘Zenevo’ and the ‘Zagato/Bertone’. The variants are said to look the same but will feature slight differences on the hardware front. Zenovo is reported to feature a dual-core Samsung H5P processor, 1GB of RAM and Bluetooth 4.0, while the Zegato/Bertone, is said to feature an H6P processor and 1GB of RAM, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Google officially announces Android 4.3 Jelly Bean

As expected, after a lot of rumors, leaks and conjectures, moments ago Google officially announced the latest iteration of Android called 4.3 Jelly Bean. The latest version is more evolutionary than being revolutionary and will ship for the first time with the just announced new-generation Nexus 7.

Android 4.3 Jelly Bean introduces a lot of new features, starting with multiple-user profile support and also a restricted profile support. This lets device owners set specific apps and settings accessible to other people who use the device. Then there’s support for OpenGL ES 3.0, which brings HD gaming graphics to Android devices that will utilise the newer generation multi-core processors in a better way. According to Google, using the latest OpenGL, game developers will be able to offer photo-realistic 3D graphics on games.

In addition to the above, the latest iteration of Android OS supports Bluetooth LE which will use much less energy and offer better performance, background Wi-Fi location, additional language support and easier text input.

Google announced that Android 4.3 Jelly Bean will be arriving with the new Nexus 7 and the update will be coming to the current-generation Nexus 7, Nexus 4, Nexus 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.
